the story

My father loved learning and words.

He didn’t go to college but everywhere he went, he carried a small black notebook filled with vocabulary words to study.

One day in the studio, I combined my father’s love of words with my world of images. These 92 small paintings came to me playfully and spontaneously over several months.

By pairing these images with a list of challenging words from my own reading, I found an unpredictable conversation between the two.
